I have more book news for those who are interested in my poetry! My books are now available locally where I live in Winchester, Virginia. They can be purchased at the Winchester Book Gallery, in Old Town Winchester and The Bookshelf on Featherbed Lane in Winchester. They are also available at the Handley and Bowman Libraries, and they are in the Shenandoah University College Library. I am hoping to be doing a poetry reading from my book at a local coffee shop, but there is nothing definite yet. I will let everyone know if and when that ever comes about. Thank you for all of your support! If you want to read a few of my poems that do not appear in my book, go to Web Poetry Corner, my poems are there under my name. You can also still order my books on-line at: Amazon.com, Borders Books.com and PublishAmerica.com. I would really appreciate and welcome any comments you have about my writing!
A quick note, I have added poems to my selection of poems from my book section and I would love for you all to take a peek.
Again many thanks!

WINCHESTER -- Like any notable collection of verse, Carolyn Anne Wolfe's "When the Moon Speaks" offers a window into the poet's soul.
The book, released earlier this month by PublishAmerica, contains 84 original poems covering more than 30 years of her life, from her college days in the 1970s to the new millennium.
"I think if you read my book, you'll know me very well," the 49-year-old says with a laugh, adding, "It's terribly scary to put yourself out there like that."
Not that Wolfe's work hasn't appeared in print before. In 1987, she was a freelance writer for the Delaware Coast Press, focusing on local artists and entertainers, merchants and tourism. Her poems and short stories have appeared in various literary magazines, including the one-time Winchester publication "Mind Candy," as well as online.
"I've always loved writing," she says.
But in "When the Moon Speaks," the title of which is derived from a public TV show she hosted in Arlington in 1993 about human spirituality and different belief systems, Wolfe lays bare her views on everything from animal rights and the environment to lighter fare, including love, life and laughing at ourselves.
"A lot of my poetry is about intuitive knowledge," she says.
In one of her poems, "Is Only Hunting Wrong," she writes, "I believe if something is wrong / it is wrong all the time / not only in the forest / but on the breakfast table / not only over the mantle / but on our backs / and feet / and / I believe / that fur is just the prettiest thing / when it is worn / by its original / owner."
Wolfe draws inspiration for her work from observing people — at the beach, in bars, on the street — and how they interact with the world around them, including animals.
"I'm always sort of championing the animal, putting myself in its place: How would I feel," says Wolfe, who lives just outside Winchester with her husband, Scott, and several furry companions, including two dogs and cats she has rescued.
"We have a tendency to disregard life unless it's human life."
Still, Wolfe doesn't classify her animal-rights poetry as being "against people," but rather "pro-animal." She says she's matured a great deal since her activist days in college, and her expectations of people have changed.
"I was very radical at one time — don't wear fur, that sort of thing. But over time, I just mellowed, and I feel that everyone has their own way of dealing with things."
She's also learned not to take herself too seriously, as a writer or as an advocate. "I think you have to keep a sense of humor about things."
Wolfe grew up in Bethesda, Md., and has lived in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Delaware. She moved to Winchester in 1999.
This past summer, she began assembling her various poems in the hopes of finding a publisher. In August, she contacted PublishAmerica, a Maryland-based company whose goal is to encourage and promote the works of previously undiscovered writers. She signed a seven-year contract this month, and the book was released on Nov. 20.
Wolfe has dedicated the book to her mother, Betty Higgins, who lives in Stephens City and has always been supportive of her work.
"When the Moon Speaks" is currently available online at books.com, amazon.com and publishamerica.com, but Wolfe says she and the publisher are in discussions with area book stores about stocking it.
"It's amazing that someone wanted to publish it," she says, adding that she didn't do it for the money.
"The idea that other people might read my work and get something from it is the most rewarding thing. ... I just wanted to share who I was and hopefully touch people with like minds."
